A Rocha Ghana has called for urgent action to address escalating human rights abuses in Ghana’s mining-affected communities, at a press conference held in Accra.
The press conference brought attention to cases of land encroachment, destruction of farmlands, pollution of water sources, threats and intimidation of community members, and the growing risks faced by people who speak out against harmful mining activities.
Through our work under the BRACE and BIVA Projects, we are documenting these violations and advocating for stronger accountability and protection of the rights, livelihoods and safety of affected communities.
We are also calling on affected individuals and communities to come forward and share their experiences as we continue documenting the scale and nature of these abuses across Ghana.
