Press Conference: Atewa Range Forest Reserve at the Edge Of Extinction

At a press conference held on September 14, 2026, A Rocha Ghana in partnership with Concerned Citizens of Atewa Landscape (CCAL) and Eco Conscious Citizens raised the alarm over the worsening situation in the Atewa Range Forest Reserve and to call for urgent action to protect the forest.

The unavoidable conclusion is that Atewa is under an unprecedented and escalating attack from illegal mining, while the institutions mandated to protect it are increasingly overwhelmed. We can lose the forest if we delay in taking very decisive actions as a matter of urgency.
