A Rocha Ghana works in four landscapes: rainforest, freshwater, marine & savannah
With four (4) offices spread across the southern and northern parts of Ghana, we collaborate with communities to implement interventions that benefit both people and the environment.
ARG is currently resident in these different landscapes;
We have non-resident engagement work in the Muni-Pomadze Ramsar Site in the Central Region and the Keta Lagoon Complex Ramsar Site, focusing on coastal resource management and mangrove restoration.
A Rocha Ghana’s work in the dry upper regions (East and West) focuses on providing solutions to address desertification, deploy land and water conservation strategies as well as solutions for renewable energy options and sustainable biomass energy supply.
In all these landscapes, we provide practical conservation interventions through community natural resource governance for sustainable landscape management, conservation of ecosystems, and green livelihood and business development. Recognising the growing challenge that communities face from climate change, we also support them to build resilience to its impacts and to other environmental threats.
Besides our work with local communities, we also work at the national level in various ways. We engage state and non-state actors on the critical need to integrate ecosystem services into Ghana’s development processes at all levels.
